Diamond is Natural Stove's hybrid stove in horizontal cooker form: it burns pellets and wood, with a ceramic-glass fireplace section on the left and a tempered-glass oven on the right. The manufacturer states 6–8 kW nominal output; the pellet hopper is 5 L (10 kg) and nominal consumption is given as 1.5 kg. Who it is for: village and vineyard houses that want to switch to wood when pellets run out; kitchens needing a wide cooking plate and an oven. Highlights: 85 × 55 × 85 cm (manufacturer gives no unit; cm assumed), a heat comfort damper, a mechanism directing heat to the oven or the room, a removable oven rack and an oven tray the manufacturer includes as a gift. Paint is rated to 600 °C; the colour code is written by the manufacturer as "RAL905" (a black shade). Warranty: the manufacturer gives 1 year; glass and the burn basket are excluded. Installation: manual and non-electric; a properly drawing chimney is compulsory. If burning wood, use short logs that fit the firebox.

What to look for when choosing a stove

Fuel type

Cast-iron stoves that burn wood and coal are fed by hand; pellet stoves feed themselves from a hopper. Choose a model that burns the fuel you can easily get locally.

Room size and insulation

How much space a stove can heat depends on the insulation, ceiling height and number of windows. Send us the size of the room and its insulation before you buy.

Flue connection

A stove must be connected to a sound flue that draws well. Pipe diameter, the number of bends and a clean chimney directly affect both efficiency and safety.

Cooking

If you also want to cook and bake on the stove, choose a cooker (kuzine) model with an oven; for heating only, a classic cast-iron stove is enough.

Use and upkeep

Hand-fed stoves need the ash emptied regularly; pellet stoves need a power supply and a filled hopper. Pick the one that suits your daily routine.

Safe use

Have the chimney swept before every heating season.
Fit a carbon monoxide detector in any home with a stove or fireplace.
Keep flammable items away from the stove and keep children away from hot surfaces.
Never burn plastic, painted wood or rubbish; use only the fuel suited to the appliance.
