Stove Firewood Prices 2026

Yellow Oak Stove Wood
Yellow oak has the densest grain of the oak varieties. It gives more heat for the same volume and its embers last longer than standard oak. Sold bagged or loose: bags come ready-measured, loose is cheaper. Preferred for long burns in stoves and fireplaces.

Red Oak Stove Wood
With its dense grain and high heat output, red oak is one of the strongest stove woods. Its embers last a long time and a fire banked at night holds until morning. Sold bagged or loose.

Oak Firewood (Dry)
First-grade dried oak firewood. Its hard grain keeps the embers going for a long time; dry firewood gives about 3,500 kcal/kg at 20% moisture (Forest Research), and the heat value varies with moisture. Dry wood gives off less soot and smoke than wet wood. A good choice for fireplaces and stoves.

Beech Firewood (Dry)
Dry beech firewood. The cleanest-burning hardwood: very little smoke, few sparks and little ash. That is why it is preferred for open fireplaces and wherever smell in the room is unwelcome. It gives heat close to oak and lights a little more easily.

Yellow Oak Firewood (6 Months Seasoned)
Yellow oak firewood dried for six months. Thanks to its dense grain, yellow oak gives more heat than standard oak dried for the same time. Its moisture content is higher than fully dry wood, so it makes some smoke. Suitable for buyers who want a balance of price and output.

Oak Firewood (6 Months Seasoned)
Oak firewood dried for six months. It is cheaper than fully dry wood, but its moisture content is somewhat higher, so it makes more smoke as it burns and gives slightly less heat. Suitable for buyers on a budget who have a flue that draws well.

Briquette Fireplace Logs
Pressed wood briquettes for fireplaces and stoves.

What is the difference between stove wood and fireplace wood?
Both are oak; the difference is moisture. In a fireplace, especially one with a glass door, wet wood coats the glass and the flue with soot, so we recommend only dry wood for fireplaces. In a closed stove with a flue that draws well, six-month oak can also be burned. Fireplace firewood →
