Petra Classic Decorative Fire Pit Outdoor Fireplace

Brand: Petra Şömine

/ Standard

Petra Classic Fire Pit is an outdoor fireplace meant to sit at the centre of an outdoor seating arrangement, with an open fire area in the middle of a square stone-look body. Manufacturer photos show a dark grey body in terrace use; it is the more compact one compared with the XL. Who it is for: home gardens and terraces, small café courtyards; places without room for the large XL. Use note: for open-air use only. Make sure the floor is heat-resistant, keep a safety distance for children and pets, and never leave the fire unattended.

What to look for when choosing a fireplace

Freestanding or built-in?

A cast-iron fireplace stove stands in the room and connects to the flue. A built-in insert goes into the wall and is clad around, so the opening must be measured on site before installation.

Indoors or outdoors?

Garden fireplaces are made for terraces and gardens and must not be used indoors. For a living room, models with a glass door are preferred.

Closed fire

A fireplace with a glass door gives off heat in a more controlled way than an open fireplace and stops sparks reaching the room.

Flue and location

Check the draw of the flue and the clearance to combustible surfaces (wood, curtains, furniture) before installation.

The right firewood

Burn well-seasoned hardwood (oak, beech). Green wood gives little heat, smokes heavily and coats the glass and flue with soot.

Safe use

Have the chimney swept before every heating season.
Fit a carbon monoxide detector in any home with a stove or fireplace.
Keep flammable items away from the stove and keep children away from hot surfaces.
Never burn plastic, painted wood or rubbish; use only the fuel suited to the appliance.
