We deliver to your address

Villa, apartment or gated site, we bring the load to you rather than to a depot. The driver rings your mobile before he sets off and again when he is close, so you are not waiting in all day. When you order, tell us about anything awkward: a narrow lane, a steep drive, steps down to the wood store, a site barrier or a gate code, or a security office that needs your name in advance. We would rather send the right vehicle than turn up and not get in.

You do not need Turkish

Write to us on WhatsApp in English and we answer in English. A pin of your location and a photo of where the wood should be stacked are usually all we need. You do not have to explain the Turkish names for the products: say oak, beech, olive or coal and we will tell you what we have.

How firewood is sold here: ster and ton

Firewood in Turkey is quoted by the ster or by the ton, not as a load or a builders bag. A ster is one stacked cubic metre of split logs, so with the air gaps it is roughly 0.6 to 0.7 cubic metres of actual wood. A ster of dry oak weighs somewhere around 450 to 550 kg, which makes a ton a little under two ster. Log length matters as much as the number, so tell us what your stove or fireplace takes, usually 25, 33 or 50 cm, and we will cut to it.

As a rough guide, a household using a single wood burner as the main heat source through an Aegean winter tends to get through two to four ster. An open fireplace lit at weekends burns far less. If you are not sure, start with a smaller order and see how it goes.

Paying for it

You can pay the driver in cash in Turkish lira or by card — our driver carries a mobile card machine. A bank transfer to the company account before the lorry leaves also works. There is no online card payment on this site; payment is taken on delivery or by transfer.

Seasoned or part-dried, and why it matters

This is the single thing most worth getting right, and the usual complaint about firewood bought locally. Wet wood spits, blackens the glass, gives out much less heat and lays tar in the flue. We sell oak dried for twelve months and oak dried for six months, and they are not interchangeable. Take the twelve-month wood if you are burning now, and especially for an open fireplace, where there is no way to run the fire hot enough to burn off a damp load.

The six-month wood is cheaper and has its uses: a modern stove run hot will cope with it, and it is the sensible buy if you are stocking up in spring for next winter and have somewhere dry and airy to keep it. If you own a moisture meter, split a log and check the fresh face; under about 20 per cent is what you want. Ask us which we are quoting, because the price difference is mostly moisture.

Order before the rush

September and October are the right months. From the middle of November everyone on the coast orders at once, delivery slots to Selçuk stretch out, and prices follow demand. Wood delivered in early autumn also gets a few dry weeks under cover before you need it, which is worth more than it sounds.
