Panther S Garden Barbecue Set with Worktop and Oven

Brand: Petra Şömine

/ Standard

The Panther S is a 145 cm wide garden barbecue set that joins Petra Classic's stone-oven barbecue body with side modules and a worktop. Overall size is 145 × 56 × 245 cm; the barbecue stands 176.5 cm without its flue. The black steel body is combined with varnished iroko doors and worktops. Who it is for: small to medium gardens where a single sink module next to the oven and grill is enough. Highlights: the barbecue section is 87.5 cm wide. The oven has a one-piece andesite floor stone; the maker quotes an oven temperature of 250–320 °C, and the oven is lined with 3 cm of stone wool. Steel is 2 mm thick, 3 mm where it meets the fire; the flue has a damper and is 64 cm as standard, with other lengths made to order. The fire bed is 77 cm and the grill 71 cm wide; the counter side holds a sink cupboard with sink and tap. Installation and safety: the Panther S is used in gardens and on terraces; connected to a flue, it can also be used indoors (the maker also lists it as suitable indoors with a flue). Set it on a level, heat-resistant surface. Without a flue connection, never light it in a garage, glazed balcony, conservatory or any enclosed space; the carbon monoxide produced by the fire is colourless and odourless and can be fatal indoors. Indoors, have a fitter check the flue connection and draught, and use a carbon monoxide detector. Keep the flue outlet clear of eaves, awnings, pergola covers and branches, and keep wooden fences, cushions and dry plants away from the body. Do not leave a live fire unattended and empty the ash only once it is completely cold. Bring the stone oven up to heat slowly with small fires during the first uses; do not shock a damp stone with high heat. Fuel: the oven and grill burn wood, and the grill section can also take charcoal.

What to look for in a garden barbecue

Space and size

Measure the width, depth and height (including the chimney) of the spot. For sets with worktops, allow room for doors and drawers to open.

Ground

Choose level, firm, non-combustible ground (concrete, stone, tiles). Lock the wheels of wheeled models while in use.

With or without an oven?

Choose a model with an oven for pizza, pide and baked dishes; a barbecue without an oven is enough for grilling only. The oven needs the fire to burn for a while to heat up.

Worktop, sink and cabinets

Outdoor kitchen sets put a prep worktop, sink and cabinets next to the barbecue. The sink needs water and drainage, the lighting needs electricity.

Smoke and neighbours

Place the chimney where the wind will not carry smoke into windows or a neighbour's garden. Dry wood and good charcoal make less smoke.

Safe use

Without a flue connection, never burn it in a closed room, garage, tent or conservatory (carbon monoxide). Indoors, use it only connected to a flue; have a fitter check the connection and fit a carbon monoxide detector.
Set it up on level, non-combustible ground, away from wooden fences, awnings, pergola covers and plants.
Never leave the fire unattended, keep children away from hot surfaces, and dispose of ash in a metal container only once fully cold.
Never use petrol, thinner or spirit to light it; use only charcoal, dry wood and firelighters.
